OneDrive - How to Share files externally

Share files or folders securely with users outside the organization using OneDrive.


1. Accessing OneDrive


2. Upload Your File or Folder

  • Click Upload and select the files you wish to share.


3. Choose Recipients

  • Click the Share button (next to the file or folder you would like to share).


  • Add the email address of the person you would like to share the file or folder with.
  • Click the settings wheel to open the share settings.



4. Configure Share Settings

  •  Choose People you choose (ensures only specified individuals can access)
  • Set an expiry date (12 months maximum)
  • Click Apply




  • Add a message to accompany the invite.
  • Click Send


The file/folder has successfully been shared with the recipient.
