How to change your password on a Windows computer


IMPORTANT: If you're not in the office, first connect to the VPN.



Press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys together. This will bring up a screen with several options.


Click on the "Change a password" option. This will take you to the password change screen.


Enter your current password in the "Current password" field.


In the "New password" field, enter your new password. Be sure to choose a strong password that includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.  Confirm your new password by entering it again in the "Confirm new password" field.



Click on the "Change password" button to save your new password.





Reset your password using the self service tool


If you’ve forgotten your password and you need to reset it, use the self-service password tool from any internet-connected device.


Note: In order to use the self-service tool to reset your password, please first Register for Self-Service password reset.


Open a web browser and head to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com

  • In the User ID field, type your full email address 
  • Enter the characters displayed in the picture
  • Click Next to proceed



  • Choose your preferred verification method (the Authenticator app is used in this demonstration)
  • Enter the requested information in the text box 
  • Click Next to proceed



  • Enter a new password
  • Confirm the password
  • Click Finish to proceed




Note: Note: If the following password policy error message is displayed, please check that the password meets the complexity requirements.





You've now successfully reset your password!
